Stone stays.
Water moves.

Three basalt blocks, sourced from the Eifel region, have shifted just enough to let water find its way through, turning the stone into a place for everyday use.

As we face rising temperatures, the fountain brings water into the rhythm of public life. It offers a place to pause, refill and reconnect, while making access to drinking water a visible part of the city.

Three basalt blocks, sourced from the Eifel region, have shifted just enough to let water find its way through, turning the stone into a place for everyday use. The fountain makes one of our most essential resources visible and accessible in public space. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly recognized access to safe and clean drinking water as a human right. Since 2023, German law has also strengthened access to drinking water in public spaces as part of municipal public services, implementing the EU Drinking Water Directive. As temperatures rise and cities face longer periods of heat, public drinking water becomes increasingly important. The fountain brings water into the rhythm of everyday urban life: a place to pause, refill and reconnect.

At the same time, it turns a basic need and a shared right into a physical presence in the city.
